Sonja.png

Sonja Chavira Arellano

April 24, 1956 -  November 24, 2023

Sonja Chavira Arellano, passed peacefully at home on Friday, November 24, 2023 surrounded by her loving children. Sonja was a gracious mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and wife. Survived by her children and their spouses Julie, Michelle, Eli, Nina, Lauralynn, Isabella, Seth – her Mother, Elda, and her siblings Alfonso Jr., Linda, and Laurie. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, Marissa, Anna, Petey, Katherine, Cheyenne, Giavanna, Michael, Christian, Zachary, Damian, Diego, Julian, Savannah, Sophia, Gabriel, Audrie, Liam, Charlotte, Aly, and Benjamin.  It is debatable who her favorite child is, but I think we all know she would say her favorite is Seth. A native San Antonian born on April 24,1956 to Alfonso and Elda Chavira, she quickly became spoiled rotten as the oldest child. Sonja met Julian Arellano while he was on leave visiting from the Army. From there, they married in 1972 and moved to Houston, Texas where she worked primarily as a stay-at-home Mom. If you have ever asked her what she would have wanted to do if she wasn’t staying at home with her lovely(albeit wild) children, she would say, “I have always wanted to be a Mom, but if not, maybe an English teacher.”

Sonja, our ray of positivity has always shined bright for everyone around and even those she had not met personally. She was a lover of reading and shared that with her children and instilled how important education is and how far it can carry you. Truly the most selfless human no matter what hardships she encountered.

A celebration of Sonja's life will be held at Celestial Funeral Home, located at 1922 Strawberry Rd, Pasadena, TX 77502, on December 8, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright, joyful, and groovy colors to honor the legacy she has left behind. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Houston.

Lina Galvan.png

Lina Merari Galvan

July 27, 1979 -  November 13, 2023

Our beloved Lina Merari Berumen Galvan, age 44, was called home by our heavenly Father on
Monday November 13, 2023 in Pasadena, Texas.
Lina was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend.
She was born in Matamoros, Mexico on July 27, 1979, and was raised and lived her entire life in
Pasadena, Texas. She attended Southmore Intermediate and Pasadena High School, where
she made countless lifelong friends. She also met the love of her life Marco through one of
those childhood friends, with whom she shared 25 years toget
her and had 3 beautiful boys, who
were the light of her life and what kept her going through these last 2 years of her illness.
To know Lina was to love her, she had a loud and happy personality that attracted you to her.
She was the kindest person, who would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She
wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, she always stood up for you and always had your back. She
loved spending her summers in Matamoros as a child and split her time with both her
grandmothers, Mama Maria and Abuelita Anita. While raising her kids, she loved being involved
in the school PTA where she met her best friends who became family to her. She loved family
gatherings, with her parents and sisters, her family-in-law and countless aunts, uncles and
cousins. Later in life, one of her favorite pastimes was to play the slot machines, or “the
maquinitas” especially Keno! Playing loteria with the family or shopping the clearance section at
Target and Walmart were a favorite of hers. She loved taking her family to the Waffle House,
Whataburger and Bennigan’s.
Lina gave her life to Christ and was baptized in Jesus name at her request by her uncle Pastor
Juan J. Mata. We will miss her deeply, her smile, laughter and the light she always shined
anywhere she went. She is no longer suffering and is now walking the streets of gold with our
Lord Jesus Christ and has been reunited with her son Sebastian.
Lina is preceded in death by her son Sebastian Andres and is survived by her husband Marco
Antonio Galvan, her sons Marco Jr and Daniel Efrain, parents Samuel and Julia Berumen,
sisters Betsy (Fernando Serna), Elizabeth (Adam Salas) and Samantha Berumen, Parents-in
law Romulo and Margarita Galvan, sisters in law Aracely (Jaime Ruiz), Malena (Saul Diaz), and
Maggie Galvan (Alex Fernandez), nieces and nephews, Jaime, Adrian, Adam, Jacklyn, Eric,
Diego, Fernando, Gael, Eliana, Diego and Emilia.

Mientras criaba a
Eliana, Diego y Emilia.

August 12, 1966 -  October 11, 2023

Jose Aurelio Solorio entered the Kingdom of Heaven on the morning of Wednesday, October 11th, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Esmeralda Solorio, and his children, Joshua Solorio, Joseph Anthony Solorio, Jonathan Solorio, and Johanna Esmeralda Solorio.

Jose was born on August 12th, 1966 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico to late parents Manuel Solorio and Guadalupe Serrano. He was the youngest son in the family and had big aspirations to follow in the family tradition of becoming a barber. Jose started his journey in following his brothers footsteps in becoming a barber by working at different locations before starting his own barbershop. During this journey, he met Esmeralda Hernandez, who he fell in love with and married on August 18th, 2000. Jose had a dream of having a family of his own and eventually he made his dream a reality by having his four children who he loved and cared for very much. He was a loved father, friend, and  a well respected member of the Pasadena community who everyone respected and cared for very much. Jose made a name for himself by being one of the best barbers in the Pasadena community after long career spanning more than 20 years. He made his own barbershop called Jose’s Barbeshop which he was very proud of owning and worked in for the rest of his career where he put smiles on people’s faces every time they walked through the door.

Jose will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire community who all loved him very much. May he rest in peace in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jose will be having his final farewells on October 24th, 2023 at Celestial Funeral Home 1922 Strawberry Rd, Pasadena, TX from 3-7PM and will finally be laid to rest at 3PM at Grandview Cemetery on 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena.
